A mysterious garage opener led me to his quiet goodness
The garage was packed with boxes, each of them carefully labeled as clothes, tools, toys ready to be donated to those in need.
I always knew my husband was the kindest person who wanted to help everyone, yet I never assumed his generosity went that long.
It turned out he had been helping and donating for years.
There was a little notebook where he was writing down the names of those who needed donations and those who donated to the good cause of making someone’s day and life a bit better.
In a tiny corner on the front page of that notebook, he wrote, “If anything happens to me, I hope someone continues this.”

Finding out that garage was like discovering a piece of my late husband’s soul. In that moment, I felt closer to him than ever before.
And yes, I was the person to continue his work now that he was gone. It was obvious that stepping up for the community was something close to his heart, and I wouldn’t let his kindness and generosity end with his passing
